Substitutes for the green apples: red apples, pears, peaches, plum or even diced coconut
Substitutes for the walnuts: pecans, almonds, brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds
Substitutes for the arugula: baby spinach, rocket or watercress to retain the peppery flavour
Substitutes for the dried cranberries: dried raisins, pitted dates, dried cherries or dried figs
Substitutes for Madeleine's Beetroot Chilli Sauce: none ;)
Alternatively, you can dilute the sauce if it is too spicy. Mix 1 teaspoon of sauce with 1 teaspoon of oil and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice for a milder flavour that still makes your tongue happy!
